As with any race, the final look of your startline is always a small mystery until the gun is loaded. Sure, a world-class runner like Mona (2007 & 2008) is unlikely to sneak under the M12 radar, but then again you might be surprised to find a Japanese star like Mai Tagami think it a good idea to jump on a bus at the last minute and dominate the girls race as happened in 2009.

In 2010 we'll no doubt be surprised and delighted to receive top-class runners from Perth, Sydney, Melbourne or Adelaide as has been the case every year, but one thing for sure, they'll have their work cut out with Australian marathon star, Lisa Weightman using M12 as a final hit-out before Commonwealth Games duties.

Lisa has been an absolute delight in correspondence, and appears playfully on our PROFILES page, but anxiously for the male runners, might actually win the race outright for the girls. I shouldn't say this out loud...but that would be cool.

We inaugurated an M4 Rat Race just for the kids last year, and it was such a huge success we almost ran out of medals. In fact, had we taken one more entry, we would have run out of medals. Beginners luck.

And no matter which way the entries fall in 2010, you can be certain of a world-class race on a course that Mona described as one of the most beautiful he has run on.

For out-of-town runners, count on our finest hospitality too, and if you have the speed, the best trophies you'll ever encounter in a fun run. Three thousand dollars in prizemoney, a fast & flat looped 4km course (measured precisely as 12000m) with river views throughout.
